So Bourne can score goals but can they keep them out?

New Bourne boss Raffa Mazzarella’s reign as manager started with 7-3 loss in the UCL Division One on Saturday.

New striker Jezz Goldson-Williams scored a hat-trick for Bourne at the Abbey Lawn but the Wakes defence shipped seven goals to leave them at the bottom of the league on goal difference after the first round of competition.

Mistakes were Bourne’s downfall and three goals in nine minutes pretty much put the game out of reach early on.

Jack Dyson opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Ryan Lovell and Moises Rodrigues joined the party.

Goldson-Williams hit his first in the 42nd minute but the Wakes allowed Dyson to notch his second before the young Bourne striker did the same in extra time.

After the break Dyson finished his hat-trick shortly before the hour mark, moments before Goldson-Williams did the same.

Bourne defender Sam Wilson nodded a cross into his own net to make matters worse for the Wakes before Mitch Blande completed the rout.

Bourne have a chance to make amends quickly when they face St Neots Town Saints away tonight.
