Bourne Ladies FC put nine past Holbeach at the Rec on Sunday

Bourne Ladies recorded their biggest win of the season with a 9-1 thumping of Holbeach Ladies at Recreation Road on Sunday afternoon.

The home side dominated from the start and were ahead after only five minutes when captain Jemma Smith drove the ball in from the goalline, forcing a defender to divert it into her own net.

Claire Lawrenson doubled the advantage moments later, scoring a fine headed goal direct from Sammy Hawkins’ corner.

At this point Bourne looked like scoring every time they pushed forward. Becca Burton scored the first of her two goals with a fine strike which gave the Holbeach keeper no chance.

Lawrenson then broke through the Holbeach defence to smash the ball low into the net.

Becky Cope, scoring her first goal for Bourne Ladies in four years, completed the first half scoring, rounding off a well-worked team goal.

Holbeach came out for the second half with a renewed spring in their steps and scored soon after the restart to reduce the deficit.

This simply spurred Bourne on and they soon increased their tally with two quick goals; Burton with her second of the game and a fine low drive from Sophie Fisher.

Holbeach’s goalkeeper produced a string of fine saves but could not stop Bourne striker, Lawrenson, scoring a hat-trick, which won her Bourne’s player-of-the-match award.

Bec Drewry completed the scoring from close range for her first goal for the club.

Bourne: Jack Jagger, Emma Ketteringham, Jemma Smith, Becky Cope, Hannah Aaron, Sammy Hawkins, Rosie Baker, Kim Fairweather, Lotti Christie, Benita Webster, Lisa Richardson, Claire Lawrenson, Becca Burton, Sarah Quint, Sophie Fisher, Bec Drewry.
