Bourne Town continued their losing streak on Saturday in Division One of the United Counties League.
They were beaten 2-0 by Wootton Blue Cross, a reverse of the scoreline Bourne enjoyed in September.
Wakes player-boss Darren Munton said he liked a lot of what he saw against a team that featured one-time Premier League player Calum Davenport in their ranks.
“He’s an absolute colossus in both boxes at this level,” said Munton of the former Coventry, Tottenham and West Ham centre-back. “But we gave a good account of ourselves.
“We looked more like scoring than we have in recent games and but for giving away a couple of soft goals, there was a lot to like about our performance.”
Alex Brockbank and Josh Bell were both denied by fine saves while midfield man Dan Mason impressed on his return to the Bourne fold.
In the FA Vase first round proper, Deeping Rangers beat Holbeach United 3-1.
And in the Reserves Divisions Cup Bourne Town beat King’s Lynn Town 1-0 and Blackstones drew 1-1 with Peterborough Northern Star.
