COTTESMORE will play at Rogues Park on Saturday for the first time since a fire destroyed much of the club’s equipment and a storage building in July.
Steve Duffy’s side will take on Highfield Rangers and the Cottesmore manager said: “We are delighted to be back. It will be a bit emotional but we are ready to go.
“I am pleased for the lads who have stayed loyal during this time and hopefully we will take three points on Saturday. Our aim this season is to finish mid-table.”
Due to the fire, the club have been unable to fulfil home fixtures during the opening two months of the season and have only played four away matches while many teams in the Leicestershire Senior League have played 10 or 11 already.
In the meantime, Duffy has recruited half a dozen new faces to bolster his squad and said: “We have been able to sign a few more players. They will all have to work hard for their place.”
Duffy added: “Allan Westray and Kevin Ash have put a lot of work in behind the scenes. We are still a long, long way short of getting the floodlights back but we are playing at Rogues Park again.
“We have too much history and heritage, and there are too many people involved at the club, just for it to slip away.”
Cottesmore kick off at 3pm on Saturday.
