Deeping Rangers 2 Desborough Tn 0

ROB Hughes struck a superb 25-yard volley as Deeping Rangers brought their losing run to a halt.

Hughes’ cracker prompted Rangers player-manager Tuncay Korkmaz to brand his strike “one of the best goals he’s ever seen”.

Korkmaz said: “It is no exaggeration when I tell you it is one of the best goals I’ve ever seen at any level of football.

“We were the better side in the second half and I always felt we could get a goal. And to keep a clean sheet is very pleasing. Dave Cornell did really well in his first game back in a new-look defence.”

Danny French was also on target with a long-range cracker as Deeping eventually broke down a resolute Desborough side on Saturday.

Desborough arrived on the back of a six-game unbeaten run and Deeping were on the back foot for the first 20 minutes but poor finishing by Desborough ensured that the teams went in at the break goalless.

Whatever was said by Korkmaz at the break did the trick. Rangers emerged for the second half, playing like a different team.

Matt Heron had a goal ruled out for offside while Aaron Cormack rattled the Rangers bar at the other end before the strikes from Hughes and French settled the game.
