COTTESMORE Amateurs picked up their first win of the season with a superb 6-0 thrashing of GNG at Rogues Park this afternoon.
Amateurs were four up by half time of the Beacon Bitter League Cup tie and could have added more to their tally. The Rutland side had the ball in the net on two more ocassions but were flagged offside both times.
Mark Cowling and Seb Archer-Fern both scored twice, and Toby Shepherd and Jamie McKay were also on the scoresheet.
Joint manager Steve Duffy said: "I think this result was in the pipeline. Tuesday night (when Cottesmore were beaten 5-1 by Sileby Saints) was a wake-up call and the lads responded magnificently.
"But it's only a cup win and we have to take that into the league - that's the bread and butter - but hopefully we can build on what we did today.
"It's also really pleasing to have kep a clean sheet."
Cottesmore are at home to Desford in the league on Monday afternoon. Kick-off is at 3pm.
