DANIELS boss Graham Drury has no worries about being underdogs in the club’s upcoming cup ties.
Stamford face Evesham United at home in the FA Trophy on Saturday, and they learnt today that they have another home cup tie immediately afterwards, with the visit of AFC Buxton in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA CUP, due to be played on Saturday, September 22.
Buxton play league football one level higher than the Daniels and beat Quorn 2-1 on Saturday, and Drury said: “We will be the underdogs but home advantage is always important.
“It’s winnable and if we can play to our potential we can beat sides from leagues above us. We showed that during pre-season. Overall I’m pretty pleased with the draw.”
His side won 2-1 at Holbeach United to and must turn their attention to the FA Trophy this weekend with the visit of Evesham, who play in the Evo-Stik Southern League South and West Division 1. They have 10 points from their first five league games.
Drury added: “I have had them watched and they have a good side. We will be underdogs but hopefully they will bring the best out of us.”
Both games kick off at 3pm.
