DEEPING Rangers moved up to fifth in the United Counties League ahead of this evening’s trip to Boston.

But Saturday’s draw at home against Peterborough Northern Star frustrated Rangers boss Tuncay Korkmaz.

Rangers were two up with less than 20 minutes to go against a side reduced to 10 men by the dismissal of Richard Jones for a second yellow card.

Rangers went ahead when a Spencer Tinkler cross went in off defender Wayne Morris, Josh Moreman doubled Deeping’s lead just before half time. But, just as a 10-man Northern Star side showed strength in adversity to beat Rangers in the reverse fixture early in the season, the Peterborough side fought back - this time to earn a draw.

In the 75th minute, Karl Gibbs handed his side a lifeline and deep into injury time Avelino Vieira levelled.

“We gave it away. We created the better chances,” said the Rangers boss, who was frustrated by decisions that led to both Star goals.

He said: “Their first was a free kick and I still do not know what it was given for. And just before the second Josh Moreman was clearly fouled but the referee played on.

“But it has taken us into the top five. Now it’s a case of working hard and getting as many points as we can.”

This evening’s match at Boston kicks off at 7.45pm. On Saturday Deeping travel to play Daventry United.
