An entertaining but goal-less game was played out as Ryhall United hosted local rivals Ketton last night (Tuesday).
Ryhall started brightly and were keen to boss the game early on, however quick fire bookings for midfielders Danny Sheehan and Barry Burton soon curbed the aggressive nature to United’s start to the game!
Alex Brown almost gave Ryhall the lead but for a fine save from Ketton keeper Jamie Scott midway through the first half,
The game was suffocated in the middle of the park as Ketton flooded the midfield as they opted for only one attacker, which frustrated United.
Ryhall’s Joe Lippett thought he had opened the scoring with an excellent chip, only for a tight offside call to overrule the goal.
The second-half saw much the same as a very congested midfield strangled the life out of any flow in the football.
Ryhall still had chances to win the game. Brown raced clear of the Ketton back line and rounded the keeper only to overrun the ball as an empty net was left begging and then Burton’ had a well-struck shot saved by Scott.
Ryhall defended well, marshalled by captain Paul Sheehan and restricted Ketton to few sights of goal, however Ketton’s excellent deliveries from set pieces kept keeper Feetham plenty to deal with.
After 90 minutes of entertaining, if not spectacular, football the local rivalry ended goalless.
