Cogenhoe United 0 Deeping Rangers 7
FOR the first half hour Saturday’s match at Cogenhoe was even Stevens but once Rangers went ahead through Matt Heron they went goal crazy.
Deeping destroyed Cogenhoe’s fne recent run with a seven-goal salvo that confirmed Rangers as one of the UCL’s top form sides.
Heron’s opener came against the run of play but it took Rangers just four minutes to double their lead with first half substitute Josh Moreman added the second from a counter attack.
Heron completed his hat-trick with goals after 62 and 68 minutes, and David Burton-Jones’ flicked header made it five after 73 minutes. Chris Logan scored the sixth just five minutes later, leaving time for Moreman to make it a magnificent seven in the final minute.
It could easily have been a higher goal tally with Nick Jackson spurning possibly the best chance of the day, when his spot kick was saved by Dean Love in the Cogenhoe goal.
Rangers boss Tuncay Korkmaz said: “You do not go out playing to win 7-0; you go out hoping to get three points but it was one of those games.
“They had the better of the chances in the first 20 minutes but once we scored one we looked like we could score more. We had so many chances late on it could have been ten.”
Deeping: James Doughty, Spencer Tinkler, Nick Jackson, Chris Logan, Steve Julian (Scott Ginty), Adam Weston, Callum Reed (Ciaron Holt), David Burton-Jones, Alex Beck (Josh Moreman), Matt Heron, Kevin Brader.
