A serious injury to an in-form player marred Oakham United’s win on Saturday against Peterborough ICA Sports.
Robbie Pearce had already scored to help give Oakham a two-goal lead when he went over on his ankle with a suspected break with 15 minutes to go.
The game was then held up for 45 minutes while an ambulance was called and took Pearce away. It is now believed to be ligament damage.
However, the stoppage gave Peterborough time to compose themselves and scored two soon after the restart.
But with the final kick of the game Michael Nelson scored the winner.
Oakham United joint-manager Andy Saddington said it was a shame to lose Pearce who had been in good form and the break in play severely disrupted Oakham’s flow.
He said: “The stoppage didn’t help us but we finally got the goal and the win we deserved.”
