Rushden & Higham United 3 Bourne Town 1

THE Wakes lost their final away game of the season on Saturday, going down 3-1 at Rushden and Higham United.

Three goals in the last ten minutes of the first half proved decisive.

Darren Farrar made the breakthrough for Rushden after 35 minutes, firing home a cross shot after a good build up. Three minutes later Jory Mann’s pass split the Bourne defence, enabling Farrar to run through to lob his second goal.

Two minutes before the break Craig Harrower robbed a defender and ran clear to shoot under keeper Matt Gilson.

Bourne put up spirited second half resistance, enjoying the better of the half. The woodwork denied Josh Kamau and new signing Ben Easson drilled a low shot wide from a Kamau lay off.

Bourne scored a deserved consolation two minutes from time when a free kick was converted by substitute George Holliday at the far post.

Bourne: Matt Gilson, John Currall, Tom Cardell, Kevin Elger, Aaron Jesson, Seb Hood, Josh Bell (George Holliday), Rob Dunn (Andy Moss), Josh Kamau (Alex Brockbank), Ben Easson, Dan Jarman.
