Michael Goode, the Deeping Rangers manager, said his side were good for the draw on Saturday and will go into tonight’s replay full of confidence they can get a result.
Goode, who led Rangers to a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Saturday said: “It’s a result. Leek Town are not just a step four team but a strong step four team and it was a three hour away game. All of that was against us. But I have said before the difference between a step four team and step five team in a one off game is negligible.”
The manager said he couldn’t single out any individual for praise because all his players had a good game and they will be full of confidence heading into the replay. He said: “I always say it’s good to win one game in the FA Cup but if we could win three we would be ecstatic.”
Goode said his side could have even snatched the victory on Saturday as they were on top after drawing level. He said: “At 2-2 their heads were gone and we looked quite dominant.”
Goode confirmed there are no new injury concerns within the squad and he should be able to name a similar side to the one which did so well away from home.
With the visitors having to travel on a week night he now feels Deeping might just have the upper hand.
Goode said fortunately the club don’t need to rely on FA Cup money but the £3,000 cheque which comes with advancement would be a nice bonus.
