Hatswell snaps up Hempenstall for Daniels

Wayne Hatswell has moved quickly to strengthen the Daniels squad after last week’s departure of Greg Smith and Ricky Miller by signing Jordan Hempenstall from Lincoln United.

Hempenstall can play out wide or up front and has the versatility that Hatswell says he seeks in his players.

The Stamford boss said: “He’s able to play in both positions. I don’t want to pigeon-hole him because it’s about players being adaptable with the size squads teams have at this level.

Hempenstall has played a major part in Lincoln’s season so far in the Evo-Stik Northern League First Division South.

Hatsell said: “Jordan is a player we’ve been looking at through Staffy (assistant manager, David Staff).

“He’s been playing very well for Lincoln and has impressed whenever he has played against Stamford. He gives us a few options and he’s technically good with both feet so he’s a positive signing for us.

“I know the Lincoln United manager, Terry Fleming, very well from my playing days and he was devastated to be losing him.

“But Terry obviously understood that, like most managers in this league, you’re only seven days away from losing your best players. We wanted to take that opportunity to benefit Stamford.

“Jordan knows the level, he knows what he is coming up against, and has done very well in the league. He’s a player that should just slot in with the lads.”
