KETTON were made to pay for a terrible first half performance as they suffered another defeat in the Peterborough and District League Division One on Saturday.
Having gone 1-0 down within the first minute it was always going to be an uphill task for the visitors and they were indebted to goalkeeper Jamie Scott for limiting the damage to 2-0 at half-time.
The second half was a role reversal as Ketton took the initiative and were left to feel that they should have taken something from the game.
Martin Trawford got them back in it with a sweetly taken left foot volley with 20 minutes to play but despite creating numerous chances, the closest coming when Scott Murthwaite headed over from an Ian Marsh free-kick, they could not find the equaliser.
“It’s frustrating,” said Ketton manager Andy Gray. “We can’t afford to only turn up for the second half.
“Had it not been for Jamie (Scott) they would have been out of sight at half-time.
“However we showed great character and could easily have got a point from it in the end.”
This Saturday, Ketton have a tough task as they entertain high flying neighbours King’s Cliffe at Pit Lane, 2pm kick off.
