LANGTOFT lost to leaders Riverside for the second time in two matches, crashing to a 5-1 defeat on Saturday.
However, United dominated for long periods and the scoreline was harsh on United.
Riverside took the lead from a corner after 15 minutes but Langtoft were quick to reply, levelling five minutes later through a close range Chris Hutchcraft strike.
The home side went back in front after Langtoft gifted them a second goal on the half hour, and Riverside made it three with a breakaway goal on the stroke of half time.
Riverside added two more late on as Langtoft chased the game, sending centre half Paul Kirk forward to bolster their attack.
Langtoft boss Ben Martin said: “My team played some of their best football today. We lost to a good side and on another day, could have got something out of it.”

The champions elect were missing several players but still proved too strong for Inter.
Although the game was goalless at half-time, Langtoft had created enough chances to be leading 5-0.
Martin Tooth dominated midfield and striker Joe Jackson was on fine form, but it was left to skipper Tom Glindon to break the deadlock with a header on the hour.
Glindon added Langtoft’s second as time was running out.
