Langtoft United put a dent in Thorney’s promotion hopes when the sides played out an entertaining but goalless 90 minutes on Saturday.
If the contest had been a boxing match, Langtoft would have won the first half by a knockout with goalkeeper Robbie Virgin having little to do for the entire game. But although Langtoft penned Thorney back in their own half they could not break down their wall of players.
Langtoft chairman Barry Woodthorpe said: “This was a game that both teams could have done with taking three points from.
“To be fair Thorney defended very well. The lads worked really hard to break them down but it was not to be.
“We now move onto the last game of the season, against Ketton, and know we can enjoy it with no pressure.”
Kick off at Langtoft is at 2pm on Saturday.
