Shepshed Dynamo Res 2 Cottesmore Amateurs 2.

Amateurs staged a blistering fight-back from 2-0 down and in the end were disappointed not to claim all three points.

Cottesmore were looking to avenge a 3-0 defeat against Shepshed just a week earlier but seemed to be heading to another defeat when they trailed 2-0 with 20 minutes to go.

But Amateurs dug deep to level the scores and gain a share of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier points.

Shepshed broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when poor defending allowed an unmarked striker to fire home following a corner.

Four minutes later, and a mix-up between goalkeeper Alex Brown and centre half Dan Swinston saw the defender turn a cross into his own net.

But Cottesmore refused to let heads drop and dominated the rest of the game.

They scored their first with 15 minutes to go when Harry Stannard fired a powerful half-volley into the net.

Stannard was involved in the second as well. After beating the keeper, his effort was cleared off the line, but Luke Smith was there to fire home.

Cottesmore’s stand-in manager Steve Duffy said: “We showed tremendous character to get back in it from 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go, and were disappointed not to have won the game.”

Cottesmore have no game tomorrow.
