Oakham United return to the top of the PDFL Premier Division with a win over struggling Crowland Town on Wednesday night.
In front of a crowd of about 40 people the Tractor Boys won 5-0 to jump above rivals Coates once again.
Skipper Eddie McDonald was the match winner, scoring a hat-trick.
He opened the scoring with a headed effort from close range following a Stuart Lambie cross.
The second goal came just after the half hour mark, Oliver McCann delivered a deep corner kick for William Oliver to head goalwards dropping to McDonald to tap home.
Lewis Leckie made it 3-0 before the break. Adam Rothery won the ball in the centre circle and drove forward before playing in Leckie who cut back inside before bending a shot from 12 yards out inside the post.
However just before the break Leckie suffered a heavy fall onto his shoulder and is now a doubt for tomorrow’s derby against Uppingham Town.
In the second half McCann drilled a low hard shot home in the 77th minute, scoring from the angle on the edge of the box after a poorly cleared corner. Young Sven Hart made his first start for Oakham United and played a key role. It was the young striker who created the final goal of the game. He drove down the left channel, held off his marker and travelled into the box before cutting back for McDonald to smash home his hat-trick.
Oakham manager Wayne Oldaker said Hart’s performance was a really highlight of a very pleasing night.
