GRAHAM Drury held the first training session with his new Stamford squad at the weekend.
Latest recruit, former Coventry City trainee, winger Andy Hall, was among the 18 players put through their paces and Drury said he is pleased with the side he has been able to assemble.
He said: “I’ve got an 18-man squad after the signing of Andy Hall, so we’re ready for pre-season.
“One or two players may pop up in pre-season and we may have a swap around, which can happen, but 18 was the number I was looking for and at the moment we are where we are and I’m happy.”
It might not be the biggest squad, but Drury is pleased with his recruits and the make-up of his newly-shaped squad.
“It’s not always about quantity, but about quality, and I have a good blend of youth and experience in the squad and Andy Hall has added to that experience alongside Paul Mayo, Robbie Maddox, Dave Staff, and Gary King.
“Pre-season is massive, especially for us because we have a new bunch of 18 players that have been put together.
“I think it’s important that we come together, get to know each other and start believing in each other, which will create a winning mentality.
“I want us to be playing for each other on the pitch and if we can get that installed in the squad, you have always got a chance.”
Stamford’s first pre-season match is at Bourne on July 17 at 7.45pm.
