Northwich Victoria 3 - 4 Stamford
THE Daniels got their season off to a great start with a 4-3 win away at one of the pre-season favourites, Northwich Victoria this afternoon.
Stamford went behind to a spot kick after 35 minutes but and although Gary King levelled on 45 minutes they still went in behind at the break after Victoria restored their lead deep in injury time.
Andy Hall drew Stamford level again, on 59 minutes, and two minutes later Sam Mullarkey put Stamford ahead for the first time.
Skipper Richard Jones, made it 4-2 to Stamford on 77 minutes but Stamford were forced to endure a tense final quarter of an hour.
Goalkeeper Elliott Shilliam was sent off after receiving a second yellow card and the hosts reduced the arrears with their second penalty of the afternoon. But Stamford held on for three points.
The Daniels face Lincoln United, who were beaten 6-2 at home by Sheffield FC this afternoon, on Tuesday evening at Kettering Road. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
