Stamford 2 Rainworth Miners Welfare 1
THE Daniels rounded off a roller-coaster season with a 2-1 victory at the Premier Kitchens Arena this afternoon.
Stamford won 2-1, coming from behind in a low-key end-of-season encounter with little at stake for either side.
Ant Lynam put the visitors ahead after 18 minutes, stroking the ball home, unmarked inside the penalty area after Curtis Shaw had capitalised on Matt Baxter's slip on Stamford's right.
Bruno Holden levelled ten minutes later, firing low from close to the penalty sport, and Stamford ended the half stronger.
There were few chances after the break for either side. Lynam had the best chances but volleyed high over the bar for the visitors before The Daniels struck late on.
Robbie Maddox and Bruno Holden both had chances in a goalmouth scramble that resulted in an 88th minute corner, which subsititute Joe Pheasant headed in high into the corner.
The win leaves Stamford in seventh place in the Evo-Stik League First Division South.
