Worksop Town 0 Stamford 5
MONDAY'S Central Conference Cup match saw the Daniels fringe players overwhelm a young but lively Worksop side made up largely of Under 19 players.
Stamford looked particularly strong in the first half with Ian Edge running the game from midfield alongside trialists Jonny Bewers and Luke Forbes.
Elton Holmes was denied an early opener by the woodwork but it took just 12 minutes for the Daniels to go in front. Mark Lovelace and Holmes combined on the right to set up Bewers to volley home.
Four minutes later Forbes tried his luck from long range, home keeper Andrew Jeffrey parried and the alert Lovelace tapped home the loose ball.
The keeper did well on the half-hour turning away a shot from Edge who had slalomed through the home defence in a powerful 40-yard run.
From Adam Buckley's corner, Jay Bonser headed back across goal, Darren Glover glanced on and skipper Jim Neil turned the ball home.
Goal number four arrived a minute before the hour, a Bewers through pass playing in Holmes who finished clinically to score a well deserved goal.
Four minutes later Bewers created another opening with an astute pass which found substitute Sam West who rounded the keeper and held off a covering defender's challenge to roll the ball home.
Some substitutions left the Daniels with an unfamiliar back three of Kevin Ward, Dave Frecklington and Buckley and the home side came into the contest more allowing Ian Pledger to show his worth between the posts with a couple of fine saves.
Stamford: Pledger, Bonser, Neil (West 49), Glover (Mason 66), Bewers (Ward 73), Edge, Frecklington, Forbes, Holmes, Lovelace, Buckley.
