Boss Michael Goode has set fresh targets for Deeping Rangers until the end of the season.

They reclaimed third place with last weekend’s 4-2 derby victory over Peterborough Northern Star.

First-half goals by Scott Mooney, Scott Coupland (2) and Chris Hibbitt put them in control.

Having hit a half-century of points, Deeping will look to complete a double over ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division leaders Leicester Nirvana with the trip to Gleneagles Avenue on Saturday.

Goode said: “We are never short of creating chances but the quality of our ball into the box is getting better which bodes well for the next few weeks.

“Over the last couple of weeks we’ve not taken an opportunity to move further ahead of other teams.

“But we are now in third place and, although teams have games in hand, they still need to win them.

“We had a relaxed training session in midweek and we can concentrate on Saturday’s game at Nirvana with a little bit less pressure on our shoulders.

“We know we can create as many chances as them so it’s all about who finishes them on the day.

“We beat them at home and we approach every game trying to win it.

“We were looking to be in the top six at the start of the season and we felt anything was possible if we got into that position.

“Realistically we know we will drop down from third but our targets have changed now.

“There is no reason why we can’t push for the top four and we’d love to stay unbeaten to the end of the season.

“We’ve got to play plenty of teams in the bottom half as well as those around us so it’s all in our own hands.”

Nirvana are the division’s top scorers and only three teams have taken points off them in 13 home games so far this season.
