The Wakes fell to their first league loss since February with a 2-1 defeat away against Harrowby United on Easter Monday.
Harrowby won 2-1, scoring the winner late in the game after Bourne had been reduced to 10 men by the sending off of Tom Waumsley.
Johnny Currall had earlier pulled Bourne level with a first-time shot from the edge of the box half an hour into the game.
Harrowby’s top scorer Martin Wormall had put the hosts ahead after 15 minutes, and Craig Wilson restored their lead with five minutes remaining.
Bourne boss Darren Munton said the sending off made a big difference in the final 15 minutes. Waumsley was shown a straight red after reacting to a challenge which Munton says went unnoticed by the match officials.
He said: “At that stage we were in the game. But there were some tired legs after Saturday and it opened the game up for them.
“At 1-1 I was happy with a point. I knew they would come at us. But we weather the storm in the first half.”
“We did not create much in the second half but neither did Harrowby. It was a good effort considering we had five regular players out.
“It was harsh for the lads after their efforts.”
The loss followed a 3-3 draw with Rothwell Corinthians at the Abbey Lawn, where the Wakes faded after a bright start on Saturday.
Bourne ran up a two goal lead in the first half with Waumsley adding to an early strike from the returning Dan Smith.
Currall added Bourne’s third, salvaging a point after Corinthians had found the net three times after the break.
Munton added: “It was probably the worst that we have played in two years. We hadn’t played for three weeks and looked jaded.
“The referee didn’t help. One of their goals had to be offside.”
