Rotherham pair will boost Daniels’ title challenge

Stamford have signed two young stars from League Two side Rotherham United on loan as the Daniels bid to chase down leaders Coalville.
Striker Alec Denton and midfielder Mitchell Rose will both be available for selection for tomorrow’s game at home to Leek Town.
The Daniels’ links with former boss Steve Evans, who is charge at the Yorkshire club, were pivotal for the deal to go ahead and Stamford’s new boss Wayne Hatswell said: “He knows they will get looked after here. I am grateful for Rotherham letting us have them.
“Both have played in the Football League and they are quality players. Both are technically very good, are training every day and have been brought up the right way.
“These players are going to be playing a lot higher than what we are at the minute and they were going to go to clubs at a much higher level than us but I have managed to get hold of them.
“Mitchell will give us another youthful pair of legs in midfield, as well as getting around the pitch. He’s tenacious and we just felt that the midfield was an area we could add to.
“Alec is a striker and he scored twice against Stamford in pre-season so the two centre-half boys will know about him. Hopefully he can come here and score goals for us.”
Eighteen-year-old Mitchell is brother of Sunderland and England U21 player Danny Rose.
Stamford chairman Chris Rivett confirmed: “It’s a month loan for all parties to assess the benefits. If we are happy and the lads are happy it will go on.”
After last Saturday’s excellent 3-1 win at fellow promotion-chasing Gresley, Hatswell now has a selection dilemma and would only say “they will be available for selection”.
“I had a team that did really well away from home,” added the Stamford boss. “We have the quality no matter who plays and hopefully will get a little run going.
“We need to be in a position to make Coalville pay for any mistakes they make.”
Hatswell has also been boosted by midfielder James Ozmen’s decision this week to turn down an approach from former Daniels boss Graham Drury who is now at Boston United.
Hatswell said: “I rate Ozzy very highly. He has good awareness and is full of confidence for a young kid. I’m trying to give him more of a free role.”
Hatswell also revealed an approach for winger Louis Hamilton has been made from Gresley. No decision has yet been taken.
Tomorrow’s match at Kettering Road kicks off at 3pm.
