Ryhall United lost 4-2 to promotion chasing Long Sutton in a freezing yet thrilling game.
United went 1-0 down after just 10 minutes through a harsh penalty decision after the ball had struck Barry Burton on the hand from close range.
Ryhall then dominated the remainder of the first half but as in previous weeks failed to finish off from good positions.
United paid for the missed changes as Long Sutton doubled their lead on the stroke of half time after a swift counter attack.
Five minutes into the second half, Ryhall were stunned by a long range shot that diverted off a divot in the turf to fly into the top corner to make the score 3-0.
United responded well and were soon back in the game after two quick Burton goals - first an excellent finish and the second headed home.
Ryhall looked like taking something from the game as they piled on the pressure. But a penalty appeal for handball in the area was waved away and a string of fine saves from the Sutton keeper frustrated United.
With time running out, United succumbed to another counter attack and Long Sutton sealed the win 4-2.
