Ryhall United’s nine game unbeaten run came to an end with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Stanground in the PDFL Division One on Saturday.

Midway through the first half a powerful header from a corner was palmed away by Feetham but for the forward to pounce on the rebound and poke the ball in, to give the visitors the lead.

Ryhall almost responded immediately when a Chris Mcroyal free kick was headed on by Ryan Brown over the keeper but crashed against the bar.

Ryhall’s deficit was doubled before half time when the Stanground winger cut in from the left and unleashed a fierce drive that flew into the bottom corner of the net.

The second half saw Ryhall push forward desperate to get back into the game,

Twice the home side had good penalty shouts turned down. An excellent second half performance from captain Danny Sheehan kept the lively Stanground front line quiet but it was the other end that United continued to struggle.

Barry Burton sent his header over the bar before Ant Sheehan’s goal-bound strike was hooked off the line. In the end Ryhall failed to score for the first time this season.
