There was drama at the Vic Couzens Stadium last night (Tuesday) as Stamford went through to the semi-finals of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup on penalties at the expense of plucky Spalding United.
The Daniels took the lead in the 37th minute through Liam Richardson.
Richardson burst down the wing, played a one-two with Ryan Robbins, before slotting the ball in the corner.
However Spalding jumped on a Stamford mistake to level the scores after the break.
The Tulip’s Dan Cotton struck for goal and his bobbled shot trickled in pass Daniels keeper Will Jones.
Lower league Spalding, who are 13 points clear in the UCL Premier Division, shaded the closing stages of the match put it ended 1-1, taking the game to penalties.
