Stamford have been drawn at home to Lincolnshire neighbours Grantham Town in the next round of the FA Cup.

The Daniels’ reward for a 3-2 win at Lincoln United on Saturday is a home game against Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division rivals Grantham on September 27 in the second qualifying round.

Last season Stamford played Grantham twice on during to their best run in the FA Cup for 40 years, reaching the fourth qualifying round.

In 2013 the Daniels drew the Gingerbreads in the first round of the competition, playing out a 0-0 draw meaning the two sides had to meet again in a more entertaining 3-2 victory for Stamford.

As well as bragging rights there is also a financial incentive to a good run in the FA Cup. Winning clubs in the next round receive £4,500 from The FA Prize Fund.
