It’s not a good time for Stamford to be in a must win scenario because tomorrow they welcome the best team in the Evo-Stik NPL FC United of Manchester to Borderville.
The Daniels have still not won at their new Zeeco stadium in the league and it is going to be some ask to start a much needed winning run .
Stamford manager David Staff said: “We are well and truly in a relegation dogfight with three or four others.
“We have to focus on what we have got to do. It’s an old cliche but we have got to take each game as it comes.
“We don’t want to be looking around at what other teams are doing but if comes down to the last couple of games that is going to happen.”
Staff said his side has shown they can beat the best in the league when they are at their best and there is no reason they can’t do it on Saturday.
“It will be like an away game because they will probably bring a thousand fans down with the them. We will just have to imagine they are cheering for us in all their red.
“It’s as much a mental thing. We have got to respect them but we have to believe that we can do it.”
Staff will be without the club’s leading scoring Ryan Robbins who in now unavailable for selection for the next five games.
He will miss the first two on international duty with St Kitts and Nevis and when he returns his three game ban will kick in after he was shown red on Saturday.
Tomorrow Staff can call upon his captain Richard Jones who played midweek once again after serving a three match bad of his own and Gareth Jelleyman who has was absent midweek after badly cutting his lip.
Staff praised the defensive efforts of his side on Tuesday night following their 0-0 draw with Rushall Olympic.
Andy Stevens brought an air of assurance to the Stamford defensive unit on Tuesday after a return to action and you feel he will have to be at his best tomorrow.
