BLACKSTONES will be fired up for tomorrow’s visit to league leaders St Neots.

The UCL’s top side topped 100 league goals in 25 games with Tuesday’s evening’s 5-2 victory against Deeping Rangers but Stones joint boss Michael Goode says he is looking forward to the challenge.

“The fact we are playing St Neots should be motivation enough for our players,” said Goode. “They will not need any more firing up for it.”

Goode knows his side will be at its best to beat a big-spending side that spent a reported £15,000 for Stefan Moore, a former full-time professional with Aston Villa and Leicester City before moving down the league ladder.

The Stones player-boss said: “To put it in perspective when Peterborough Northern Star bought a player from Stones they paid £700 and that doesn’t happen very often.

“St Neots have high ambitions but they are beatable. We also have some good players and every game starts 0-0.”

Stones face St Neots back-to-back in the league with the home fixture on March 2 and just a Lincolnshire Senior Trophy tie against Boston Town at Lincoln Road on Tuesday evening.

Blackstones lost 2-1 at home to Northampton Spencer last Saturday.
