DEEPING Rangers fell to a surprise 4-1 defeat at bottom side Desborough Town on Saturday.
Rangers were torn part early on by a Desborough side that pushed Blackstones hard a week earlier.
Desborough were 3-0 up before new striker Alex Beck pulled one back in the 25th minute of his Deeping debut.
The former Boston Town man saw another effort cleared off the line but a fourth Desborough goal before the break left them in control.
Rangers had defender Steve Julian sent-off in the second period.
* BETTER finishing and Blackstones may have come away with something from St Ives on Saturday.
As it was they failed to capitalise on the first half chances they created and were eventually beaten 3-1.
Steve Burns goal, almost on the final whistle was llittle more than a consolation.
Joint boss Darren Jarvis said: “We played ever so well in the first half without managing to stick our chances away.
“We couldn’t reproduce that in the second half but we showed yet again that we can compete with a top side.”
* STAMFORD’s game at home to Carlton Town was postponed due to a n area of frozen pitch in the shadow of the main stand.
The Daniels are due to play Sheffield FC away tomorrow evening.
