BLACKSTONES bosses Darren Jarvis and Michael Goode will hope their side comes out of tomorrow’s UCL Premier Division clash against Irchester unscathed with a big cup game just days later.
Stones will represent the south of the county at Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank ground in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy on Tuesday evening.
The Stamford side will face Grimsby Borough who are mid-table in the NCEL Division One.
Stones joint-boss Jarvis said: “They are a solid mid-table side like ourselves. They score a lot but concede as well.
“Our squad is a full strength. The only players unavailable will be Ben Porter and Billy Oliver who are cup-tied, and Ryan Francis who was not registered with us before the semi-final.”
A coach, with seats almost entirely sold out, leaves Lincoln Road at 5.15pm on Tuesday and Jarvis added: “We have a good crowd coming.
“Obviously we want to make sure we take three points on Saturday but we will have one eye on the cup game.”
Kick off tomorrow at Lincoln Road is at 3pm.
l LAST Saturday Stones drew 1-1 at Newport Pagnell.
Midfieler Steve Burns scored his first goal of the season as Stones claimed a highly-creditable draw.
Burns hit the net with a fierce strike from just inside the box to hand Stones the lead with 16 minutes to go.
Ben Porter then struck the crossbar before third-placed Pagnell hit back to level, but only a brilliant save prevented substitute Elton Holmes from winning it for Stones at the death.
Jarvis said: “We knew all about Pagnell’s strengths and we got our tactics spot on.
“Both sides could have pinched it, but a draw was about right and it is a very good point as far as we are concerned.”
Blackstones: Duggan, Quy, Ellis, M. Porter, Hunnings, Burns, Oliver (Holmes), Burton-Jones, B. Porter (Barker), Pearce, Staffieri. Unused: Goode.
