Blackstones Football Club have submitted an appeal to the Football Association following their relegation to United Counties League First Division at the end of last season.

The Stamford club finished second bottom of the premier division but argue they were forced to spend money, under FA rules, on ground improvements while other teams have effectively been able to spend their funds on players.

Friday’s hearing is at Wembley Stadium.

A statement issued by the club this morning said: “Blackstones have appealed to the FA regarding their relegation. The appeal is based on ground grading.

“In May 2012 the FA issued their national league system step 5 review in it the following appears: All clubs must meet the National Ground Category F in full by March 2013. Clubs that do not meet these requirements will be relegated to an appropriate Step 6 division. In addition, all leagues must fully comply with this regulation.

“Blackstones feel the UCL are not working to these regulations.”

The Lincoln Road club has spent £20,000 to meet FA requirements in the last to season and the club added: “We feel that the money raised and donated has been wasted.”
