A young goalkeeper from Bourne has been snapped up by the Leicester City Football Club’s junior Academy.

Ten-year-old Kyle Evans, who attends Bourne Westfield Academy, began playing football seriously two years ago and now hopes to make the grade at the
Championship club.

After starting with Bourne U8s, Evans has played for Arsenal Soccer Schools and most recently Lincoln City where he was spotted by Foxes scouts.

“I was a Tottenham supporter so now I support Leicester and Tottenham,” said Evans who rates Leicester’s Kasper Schmeical and England’s Joe Hart as his favourite keepers.

“I went to Katz Keepers in Nottingham two days every month for extra training
and that paid off when Leicester and Derby came for me.”

Aston Villa also offered the youngster a trial, but Evans plumped for the Foxes and will now be training at Leicester four times a week.

Proud dad Keith said: “He has trained with various clubs over the last two years and has worked very hard.”
