Deeping Sports 0
Uppingham Town 3
A BRACE of goals from Dave Laughton and a strike from Andy Sayers ensured Uppingham kept up their title bid on Saturday.
Town beat Deeping Sports 3-0 away on a day when their closest rivals at the top of the Peterborough and District league, Pinchbeck United, dropped two points.
The Lincolnshire side are eight points behind Uppingham but have three games in hand, and the clash between the top two could become a title decider if both sides maintain their recent form.
Town boss, Richard Kendrick refuses to get carried away just yet but said: “Some people might be surprised about our position, but I’m not because I know what our lads are capable of doing and I have full faith in them.
“We had a lot of players leave for better football about three years ago and had to pretty much start again. The lads we brought through have now come of age and know how to win.
“There is no pressure placed upon them and we take every game as it comes. We are having a good season but there is a lot of football still to be played and a lot can happen yet.
“Put it this way, we have secured Premier Division football for next season!”
l OAKHAM Imps’ match against Thurlaston Magpies was postponed last Saturday due to a frozen pitch.
