RYHALL United Football Club made a little bit of history at the weekend when all three of the club’s side won on the same day.

The Reserves earned a valuable three points at Parkway Eagles, winning 1-0 courtesy of an Andrew Ward strike. United’s A 4-1 beat Caythorpe with goals from James Brindley, Tom Phillips, Darren Middleton and Adam Watts, and the first XI beat Castor & Ailsworth 2-1 to complete the hat-trick.

It was sweet and swift revenge for the first team, who lost to league leaders Castor just a week earlier.

Top scorer Ricky Pozella returned to the side and quickly made his presence felt with a fierce shot that flew just wide in the opening minutes.

Ryhall’s dominance was rewarded when Jonny Hewing claimed his third goal in as many games, heading in an Eddy Pentney corner. And the lead was doubled on the half hour when Phil Bartlett cut inside to curl the ball past the keeper into the bottom corner.

Ryhall could have added more with Pentney only denied by a fine reflex save from the keeper in the closing minutes of the first half.

Castor piled on pressure after the break and keeper John Feetham had to be alert. Ryhall slowed the game down, frustrating Castor but United’s rearguard was finally beaten with just seconds left. A strong Stuart Moss tackle resulted in a penalty and as soon as the spot kick was tucked away, the final whistle went.

Ryhall’s win puts them back into the title challenge.
