United stand helps to keep league safe

THE United Counties League Premier Division, which features Blackstones and Deeping Rangers, will not be scrapped in a league restructure this summer.

Yesterday the Football Association described the process of reducing the number of step 5 leagues from 14 to 12 as “unworkable” and announced the withdrawal of the proposal.

John Weeks, chairman of the league, said: “The ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties Football League wish to thank all concerned for their united support against those initial suggestions.

“I would like to thank our clubs for their unanimous and unwavering support and our officers and management committee members for their unstinting efforts in producing facts, figures and documents to fight those suggestions.”
