Uppingham Town maintained their great start to the season with a 3-0 victory at home against Riverside on Wednesday evening.

Andy Sayers, Will Thomas and Dave Laughton scored for Town with Laughton converting from the penalty spot after Riverside’s Wilkins Makate had been sent off for handling the ball on the line.

With two wins from their opening two matches, Uppingham sit third in the Peterborough and District League with a game in hand of the two sides above them.

They are also through to the next round of the league’s President’s Shield after cruising past Stilton United on Saturday afternoon.

Martin Turiccki scored twice on Saturday with Laughton and Sayers also on the scoresheet.

Town, who beat Oakham 2-0 in their opening game, face Whittlesey Blue Star on Saturday in the second of a run of six home fixtures.
