Wakes seek to maintain recent form

THE Wakes will hope to complete 90 minutes of football tomorrow after weeks of postponements and a floodlight failure.

Darren Munton’s side will take on Raunds Town, seeking to maintain their recent run. The Wakes remain unbeaten in 2012 after a show of good form since Christmas.

However, as well as knocking out a series of fixtures, the recent wintery blast has meant the team have been unable to practice ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Frustrated by the enforced break, Munton said: “Last year was disappointing and we’ve caught up a few points. We just wanted to keep playing and keep the momentum going.

“We were due to play teams where we could have picked up a few points. We had a lot of confidence and it was a shame it was interrupted.

“With the bad weather and postponed games we’re all in the same boat.”

Raunds, whose season was also put on hold during the cold spell, had also shown good form recently and have not lost since the Wakes’ decisive 4-0 win early this year at Abbey Lawn.

“I don’t think they were expecting it,” warned the Bourne boss. “They’ll be looking for revenge.”
