Wittering won in emphatic style on Saturday, beating Parkside 7-0 in the PDFL Division Two to record back-to-back wins having dispatched Oakham United Reserves the week before.

Wittering started brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead after just a couple of minutes when Billy Nairn saw his shot zip just over.

Wittering were awarded a penalty on 7 minutes after Nairn was taken out in the penalty area. The ever reliable Eddie Winks’ spot kick was saved, but the rebound fell to Nathan Steele to finish and save Winks’ blushes.

This time it was Ashley Middleton who got number two after a good move that started from the defence playing the ball around the Parkside front men.

A few minutes later Nairn got the third goal after a good tackle from Ashley Middleton ended at the feet of Winks who then played in Nairn to hit his shot first time on the half volley to leave the keeper no chance.

Luke Watson made it 4-0 before halftime after a good run down the wing and he ran around the on-rushing goalkeeper to then dink it in past a defender and into the net. The second half was five minutes old when Wittering were unlucky not to score a fifth when Simon Lucking went through a ruck of players only to be tackled at the point of scoring.

Wittering did make it 5-0 after composed play by Steele found Winks inside the box and he slotted into the corner of the net from eight yards.

Simon Marshall got his name on the score sheet after he played a short corner and got the return. He smashed it from the angle of the box and it flew past the goalkeeper at the front post.

Marshall got his second and Wittering’s seventh after good play down the right hand side by him; he got past the left back, he then chipped the ball over the goal keeper and into the net, despite the efforts of Dan Hudson trying to get a touch of the ball, he nearly chopped himself in half by nearly going through the back post.
