Former seniors captain Peter McDonald Pearce struck his first hole-in-one on the valley course at Greetham last week.
Peter’s ace came on the par three third where, hitting into a strong headwind, he selected a six iron. The flag was on the far left of the green which gave the choice of hitting over branches for the flag or going for the middle of the green.
Peter went for the direct route and hit the ball cleanly over the trees. The ball landed six inches out and spun back into the hole.

l Greetham Valley bowed out of the national Mail on Sunday competition at Priors Hall where home advantage proved decisive.
Trevor Smith won 2&1 to set Greetham up on the right track and Fraser Denholm continued the trend winning 2-up.
Steve Anderson managed a half in a game that swung backwards and forwards for the whole round before Wayne Terrett lost 7&6.
With everything hanging on the last match, Neil Harris fought back twice from two down to level the match coming in to the final hole. The team just needed a half to secure a win but Neil’s shot lipped out on the final par putt.
With the overall match all square, Greetham lost in a sudden death shoot-out.
