Golf: In-form Helen’s double success at Toft

Toft ladies have had plenty of opportunities to enjoy challenges on the course and good weather has inspired some impressive results.

A stableford competition saw Helen Roscoe in control with a score of 34 points, one ahead of Mairead Scott.In third place on 32 was Hayley Hunt.

A 3 Ball Alliance fun competition involved 17 ladies in teams of three with the best two scores counting on all holes and all three on the par threes.

Ideal playing conditions made for strong scoring and the team of Mary Stark,Lorraine Robinson and Mandy Lees emerged as worthy winners on 88 points.

The gallant trio of Jean Parsons,Jane Edlington and Sandra Wildmore came second on 83.

The Medal Winners Trophy drew on only four players but nevertheless all the ladies showed a keen desire to give their all.

It was the in-form Helen Roscoe who lifted the trophy with a fine round of 89-16=73.Close behind was Margaret Dair with a score of 96-21=75.Lorraine Robinson also put in a decent display with 91-14=77 and Geraldine Moss finished on 115-27=88.

The winner of the John Larkinson Trophy with 40 points was Ray Bills.

Division: Mike Paulson 39pts; Mick Marriott 37; David Sharp 37.
