Jordan claims December medal

Rutland County members enjoyed superb playing conditions for the December Medal despite recent rain, none more so than 18-year-old Jordan Paylor.

Paylor’s fine 73 gave him best gross and best net 67 playing off a six handicap.

Craig Allan strode round the course in just 79 strokes for second place with a net 68 followed by Eric Cooper’s accomplished 76 for net 69 and third spot. Fast-improving Rick Collins was fourth with 85-15-70, just pipping Reg Parker on countback. Reg hopes to put the new putter he won in the Christmas draw to good use in the New Year.

The Committee invited all members to join them for a 9-hole mixed Stableford prior to the annual presentation, Christmas lunch and prize draw on a fine, bright day which encouraged good golf.

New lady member, Jo Shepherd, was top lady on 20 points and former captain Alan Shuttleworth top man on 19.

Rutland County Seniors staged their Festive Stableford with a large field of seasonal swishers taking to the fairways prior to returning later in the evening for the Christmas dinner celebration evening.

New Captain, John Phipps, welcomed members and their partners and thanked everyone who donated prizes for the raffle. There no massive scores on the day as conditions were difficult.
