Outgoing captain Bob Sachs switched his successors ball ahead of the traditional captain’s drive-in much to the amusement of the 30 senior members who had gathered round to watch.

New skipper David said: “It was a bit of a shock when I hit the ball and white chalk flew in all directions but it was all in good fun.

“I’d like to thank Bob for all his hard work last year and hopefully we can continue the good form the team has shown in matches over the coming season.”

Tony Wright takes over as the new vice captain.

l Vinny Keefe won the fifth round of the winter league with a fantastic score of 44 points, ahead of Bob Sachs (42) and Trevor Childerley (40).
