Greetham Valley’s 2012-13 Winter Order of Merit has maintained its unpredictable nature with another new winner in week nine.
No player has yet won two rounds, although Ian Copley came close this week, losing on countback to Paul Clegg.
Both players came in with 41 points and both received a handicap reduction. Paul was cut by two down to four, and Ian one shot to play off 10 in the next round. George Grant was third with 50 points and loses point five off his handicap.
The top of the order of merit table now looks like a family affair where Ian has overtaken his brother Dave to lead overall with 142 points.
Long time leader Dave is 11 points behind while Paul Clegg’s win lifted him from 16th to third with 127, just 11 ahead of last year’s winner, his son, Adam. Paul Jenkinson has moved up to fifth with 98 points.
Organiser Neil Harris said that the competition has never been this open.
l Eight handicapper Neil Lowndes won division one of the seniors medal with a net 72, shooting the lowest gross along the way.
David Wallace was second on countback, ahead of Malcolm Barnes. Both players scored 73. Ian Kellam won division two with a net 72 on countback ahead of Peter Wood, and Tony King who was third with 73.
l Shaun Denholm and Lincolnshire Ladies Secretary Bev Dolman have been announced as the Vice Captains for 2013.
As well as their regular duties alongside 2013 captains Trevor Smith and Sheila Douty, Shaun will also run the B team and Bev will take care of the mixed team.
