Victory rounds off Toft season

Toft’s mixed team won its final match of the season at home against Greetham Valley in cold and blustery conditions.

All six matches were closely fought but it was the home team that eventually prevailed in a 4-2 victory.

Acting captain Sandra Wildmore, partnered Adrian Childs to a narrow 1 up victory but Greetham levelled with Lorraine Robinson and Dave Chappell losing 1 down.

Mary Stark and Steve Wildmore gave the home team a boost in winning 4&2 but the visitors came back in defeating Judith Childs and Richard Robinson 2&1.

The eventual win for Toft came courtesy of their successful final two pairs with Lisa Gauci and Ian Dair bagging a 2&1 result and Margaret Dair and Paul Stark won 4&2.

Thanks were expressed to Dave Chappell for stepping in at the 11th hour to play in his first mixed match and to Mary Stark for organising the ladies’ friendly matches and mixed competitions since June.
