The first Ketton Girls Sixes tournament at Ketton’s Pit Lane proved a hit with 50 girls from six clubs including Oakham, Uppingham and the host club.
One of the organisers, Chris Mainstine, said: “There was some great batting, bowling and fielding on display.”
Big hitting from Izzie Forster, Jess Daniel, Lizzie Mainstone and Millie Coward helped both Ketton teams to some big totals, aided by some quick running between the wickets from Neve Hattee, Lucie McCrone and Georgie Miles.
But by the end of the group stage it couldn’t have been closer, with a three-way tie at the top of Group A and a two-way tie at the top of Group B. It had to be decided by Golden Wickets.
Ketton beat Twycross in the group B play-off and Ketton A saw off Narborough & Littlethorpe and Oakham in group A to set up an all-Ketton final.
Ketton B edged out Ketton A in a great contest for the tournament trophy with Narborough beat Twycross in the runners-up final.
