Chris Howe took six wickets as Uppingham saw off Medbourne in a low-scoring game at Castle Hill on Sunday.
Medbourne chose to bat first but struggled against Uppingham’s attack. Openers Joel Nance and Harry Preston made 15 and 18 respectively with top-scoring number three Fergus Clarke making just 28 before becoming Howe’s second victim.
Max Collins (1 for 10) saw off the only other batsman to reach double figures, skipper Brad Downing (12), as Medbourne slumped to 110 all out in 36 overs.
Howe finished with 6 for 42 off 12 overs while Scott Green, with 3 for 35, finished off Medbourne’s innings.
Wicketkeeper and skipper Jamie Dumford had a superb afternoon taking three good catches and two stumpings.
Uppingham started their innings badly losing Jamie Dumford for a single and he was soon followed by Mark Cox for just six. After seven overs, Town had struggled to 30 for two due to good bowling from Brad Downing (4 for 26).
Martin Bennett top scored for town with 31 with the next highest score extras (27 runs) as Uppingham lost seven wickets as they ground out a win in the 28th over that keeps them in the promotion chase.
Uppingham, who travel to Market Deeping on Sunday, are third 70 points behind leaders Market Overton but have played two games fewer than their Rutland rivals.
